The Pungo area of Virginia Beach has some of the most expensive neighborhoods in Hampton Roads, according to housing data from Zillow, an online real estate platform.
As of December, the typical home value for neighborhoods near Back Bay and North Landing River was $583,951 — among the highest in Virginia Beach, and the region as a whole. Zillow defines the “typical” home value as the middle of the market for all homes in an area based on its analysis. It is not the median home value.

Virginia Beach’s Sandbridge area and southeastern Chesapeake, which includes Great Bridge, are also among the most expensive neighborhoods. The typical home in each area came in just under $500,000.
Portsmouth, Norfolk, Hampton and Newport News have neighborhoods with some of the lowest costs, in the range of $200,000 to $250,000. In the Cradock area of Portsmouth, the typical home value is $205,607 — among the lowest in Hampton Roads.
