One of my favorite parts about local radio are the promotional events. At SummitMedia, I've had the chance to interact with listeners, raise money for charity and introduce live bands in front of thousands of people.
In November, I was on-air for our 12th Annual Feed Richmond drive. For three days we worked with Feed More, Kroger and Boy Scouts of America to raise enough donations to feed more than 150,000 thousand people. When I wasn't on-air, I was operating the soundboard for live broadcasts and making the magic happen behind the scenes. This was the third year I helped with the drive and it was amazing.
Year-round we host concerts at venues across the Richmond area, and during the summer our stations go all-out for concerts at Innsbrook After Hours. We give listeners tickets and chances to meet the artists, broadcast live, introduce the performers, and run a V.I.P. area for clients and guests. It's always a busy day, but it's pretty hard to complain while you're seeing a free concert at work.
Those are some of the coolest things we do, but we keep ourselves busy throughout the year by helping big and small businesses in the Richmond area with marketing and advertising.
